Miss Plumb’s Field Journal

Dr Smith’s expedition secretary records every party that searches his study, every question she is asked at the door and every move the pharaoh’s spirit makes. Newest entries first.

In short: Miss Plumb’s journal is invented, dry-humoured and spoiler-free. It runs from the Manly study through the Perth study to the abandoned dig of Lost Tomb, keeps every puzzle and Dr Smith’s fate to itself, and pairs each entry with the real room facts.

The facts about Miss Plumb

Miss Plumb is invented for this journal. The Entombed escape rooms, designed, built and run by Escape This, trap your team in the desert study of Dr Smith, an archaeologist who vanished hunting Pharaoh Khufu’s treasure (Escape This Manly and Escape This Perth CBD); the sequel, Lost Tomb, takes you from an abandoned dig into a structure older than the Pharaohs (Escape This Perth CBD).

The journal is new fiction written by Escape This. Miss Plumb, Humphrey the camel and the visitors named in the entries exist only here; it describes no real person or expedition, and never gives away a puzzle, Dr Smith’s fate or how the seal story ends.

Anything said out of character on this site, from the Perth age floor to Lost Tomb’s weekend team sizes and today’s prices, comes from Escape This’s live booking and game data, not from Miss Plumb’s notebook.

FAQ

About Miss Plumb’s Field Journal

Who is Miss Plumb, and what is her field journal?

Miss Hester Plumb is Dr Smith’s fictional expedition secretary, and her field journal is a comic diary Escape This writes in her voice for its Entombed escape rooms. She keeps the vanished archaeologist’s study in Manly and Perth, follows the trail down into Lost Tomb, and each entry answers a real question, such as ages, crawl spaces or team sizes, with the true facts and a booking link beside it.

Will we meet Miss Plumb inside Entombed?

No. Dr Smith, his study, his last letter and the curse belong to the rooms; Miss Plumb, Humphrey the camel and the visitors in her entries were invented for the journal and appear nowhere in Entombed or Lost Tomb. No real person or expedition is described.

Could the field journal spoil Entombed or Lost Tomb?

It is written not to. Miss Plumb describes the red walls, the hourglass, the sandstorm and the pharaoh’s habit of turning the lights out, all things the rooms show you in the first minutes, but she never writes down a code, a hiding place or the way out of either room.

Does Miss Plumb ever find out what happened to Dr Smith?

Her journal never says. She keeps his study, sets a place for him at Christmas and wonders aloud, but whether the curse, rival treasure hunters or something else took Dr Smith is for teams in Entombed to work out, and what lies beneath the abandoned dig is Lost Tomb’s to reveal.

Are the dates in Miss Plumb’s journal real?

Some are. Escape This’s booking records give 20 July 2022 for Entombed at Escape This Manly (the room was there before, in the Room Eight days), 16 May 2024 for Entombed at Perth CBD and 19 March 2026 for Lost Tomb, and her entries for those days carry those dates; the anniversaries count from them. The other dates are chosen for the story.

How often is a new field journal entry added?

About once a month. New entries appear on their dates through 2027, each tackling a different question about Entombed and Lost Tomb, from pairs at the weekend and summer holidays in Manly to phones, first-timers and the leaderboard.
